LOWELL BYERS

Lowell Byers was born in Manhattan, New York. He was introduced to the New York theater scene as an infant, when his father's understudy would hold him backstage during the opening act of "Big River" on Broadway.

He was raised in Chappaqua, New York and attended Horace Greeley High School where he first started acting in school productions.

A few years later, he attended Denison University playing leading roles in six mainstage productions. Some of which include Romeo in The Romeo and Juliet Project, Phillip in The Shape of Things, and Quango in Homebody Kabul. Surprisingly enough, he also played Jack in Brighton Beach Memoirs with the help of a great comb-over wig.

During each of these productions, he played an important role on the Denison Swimming and Diving Team becoming a 26-time NCAA All-American and 4-time National Champion.

His senior year at Denison, he wrote and performed a one-man show, Letters to Home, based on three true stories from his family history.

After graduating from Denison in May 2008, Lowell returned to New York. Since then, he has been acting in Off-Off Broadway shows and readings as well as playing leads and supporting parts in various features and shorts including the Campbell Scott film, "Company Retreat."

Lowell has also kept his passion for witing alive while currently working on a WWII Stageplay, a Greek Tragedy, a Horror Screenplay, as well as developing the story for a Greek Dance musical as a tribute to his Papou who recently passed on. He has joined with some very talented writers at MozzleStead Productions to develop these projects.

Since his New York City theatre debut in the Fall of 2008, Lowell has become a member of 4 different NYC theatre companies after acting in their productions...

The Bleecker Company (www.thebleecker.org) - Women and War, Cycling of the Matterhorn, The Third Miracle

Maieutic Theatre Works (www.mtworks.org) - Look After You, Newborn Reading Series

Retro Productions (www.retroproductions.org) - Holy Days, Women and War

Oberon Theatre Ensemble (www.oberontheatre.org) - Othello

Lowell is very proud of his family members who have been in successful projects or made promising careers as actors. Father, Ralph Byers (Big River, Revival of the Music Man), Grandfather Athan Karras (Dark Odyssey), Mother, Daphne Byers (Saturday Night Fever), Great Aunt Margaret Hamilton (Wicked Witch, Wizard of Oz).
